When my son was 19 months old we noticed he had many sensory issues that were interfering with his everyday life. He had a speech delay and some speech regression. We started him in Early Intervention and OT twice a week and began to see some improvements. When he was 2.5 yrs old we noticed he was having a lot of anxiety, thus we started seeing a Developmental Pediatrician in Boston. His anxiety manifested through daily stomach aches, difficulties falling asleep and waking through the night, severe separation anxiety and decreased communication skills. He started in preschool with full services, PT, OT, and speech. He did well in school academically but wasn’t speaking or making any friends. He kept to himself and did not participate in any movement activities. At home he was having significant meltdowns and had minimal coping skills. We started him in therapy, first Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and then play therapy. I read every book on anxiety that I could get my hands on. We made small steps forward at times but then took larger steps backward. Things were hard, there were lots of tears, things seemed like they were far from getting better. This past September he was able to start back at school which was a blessing but was still not speaking much and only saying a few words to teachers he was comfortable with. Fast forward to January and things were just getting worse. Any therapy that was working, stopped working. My son was so emotional and melting down over every small thing. He was up 2-4 times a night with intrusive thoughts that someone would take him or lock him up in his room, or suck him up into a vent so his mommy and daddy couldn’t get to him. He was hysterically crying for 30 min before I left for work, hyperventilating and gagging. He had absolutely no impulse control and was becoming aggressive – biting, kicking and spitting at his 2 year old sister and myself. He had an edginess in his voice and he was just angry…all…the…time. \nThree weeks ago, and with the support of his doctor, we decided to start him on the Green Compass nano jellies. I started him on 1/4 x 5 days and then increased him to 1/2. Within 3 days the improvements we saw in his behaviors were remarkable. For the first time in 2 years he’s been sleeping through the night, with not a single intrusive thought. He is able to give me a hug and kiss goodbye when I leave for work without a single tear or worried expression. He has not been biting, kicking, pinching or hurting his sister or myself; he has some impulse control. Most importantly, my son is truly happy. He’s sweet and affectionate, smiling and enjoying himself in every day activities, rather than being so overcome with anxiety. His teachers emailed me and said they’ve noticed that he’s much happier these days, laughing more and at ease. I can’t express how it feels to watch your child, who has been hurting and struggling for years with emotions he doesn’t understand to finally be free of that. And it really hit home when I asked him if he felt any different inside since taking the jellies and he said yes. I asked him, “In what way do you feel different?” and with pure innocence he said, “ummm, like goodness.”
